Part One-
  • He's an officer of the law.
  • A lot of crimes occured during this time - theft, etc.
  • He belongs in the middle class.
  • He roamed the city, stopping crime and buying land (flaunting and spending his vast amount of money).
  • Chaucer doesn't go into as much detail into his looks and appearance as he does the other characters. Instead he only elaborates on the Sergeant's clothing.
  • Today, the Sergeant of Law may be considered as a bounty hounter, a police officer, or even a realtor.
